Winckley Square

All BID members are entitled to take up free affiliate membership of the Chamber of Commerce.

Winckley Square is the finest example of a privately planned Georgian development with open space in the North of England. In the heart of Preston’s conservation area and just 50 yards from Preston’s main retail district, this beautifully landscaped parkland is a peaceful urban refuge from the hurly-burly of city life.

In 2011, a group of city centre businesses, supported by the BID, formed the Winckley Square Community Interest Company (WSCIC), a company aiming to drive the revival and restoration of the Square.

The BID, the single largest private sector donor, invests £30,000 PA towards enhancements in the Square.  This funding, and support from the BID, was integral in the project being awarded a £1.2million fund to aid its restoration.  The fund and project plans are managed by the WSCIC on which the BID sits.

As the commercial quarter of the city centre, the BID remains committed to further enhancing and developing the square for the benefit of businesses, their staff, residents and visitors.
